To Choose Oneself is to Speak Truth

“Telling a true story about personal experience
is not just a matter of being oneself, or even of
finding oneself. It is also a matter of choosing
oneself..”
-- Harriet Goldhor Lerner (author of The Dance of Anger)

Tempering or modifying the words we speak so they are acceptable to others is second nature to most of us. Is this a form of 'self ' denial? And what is the impact of modifying how we feel, what we think, who we are, just to be more acceptable, less visible, less threatening?  Certainly it impacts our self-esteem. It is, in some way, a form of lying because we hide the truth of our being under what we deem to be acceptable or safe. It also prevents others from knowing the the real us.

After years of speaking this way it is easy to mistake one's low self-esteem as the 'real thing'. How can we come to know wonder of who we each are?  We are unique, have purpose and are necessary to the flow of creation. We do matter, who we REALLY are matters. It can take some time to re-learn choosing ourselves. It can take time to discover who it is that we must choose, to know the difference between the image we carry of our self and who we really are. But it IS worth it.  It is always worth it. Trust.  Speak Truth.

Self Reflection:  It takes time to learn to choose myself, to matter to myself. Do I matter to myself?

In Full Moon of April: Practice Seeing Softly

When we understand what if feels and looks like to 'see softly', we experience a gentle way to bring our life into alignment. If we are to move through the narrow vortex between our living in perceived reality and the reality of our Truth, as it is offered by the Divine Source for us to see.

When we look softly at the world around us, our awareness of our being becomes soft as well. With practice we soften our self-criticism, judging, and self-imposed limits.
Amy Cuddy, speaking of how our way of being in our body influences who we are in our life, says: "small tweaks can lead to big changes".   In this truth cycle, 'See Truth' means that we learn to be soft and compassionate with our self. It is this compassionate, yet focused, way of seeing connects us with the power and strength of Godly Seeing/Seeing with the eyes of Creative Source.  We become able to move through anxiety and fear (that narrow vortex) toward what is Truth for our life.

We practice the change we want to be gently, daily, consistently.  We receive new awareness, new guidance.  We 'see' more fully.

Self Reflection:  Today on this Full Moon, I will look softly, and in the fullness of her energetic light I will see-at least a glimpse-of the light and fullness of my Truth. This willingness opens my path forward.  Am I willing to commit to this practice of soft seeing and 'small tweaks'?

Honoring Truth Through Embodying our Incarnation

Sara shares: Often when I write, I try to do so as a channel for wisdom that comes from beyond me.  I feel like the best thing I can do is "get out of the way" and let the words come.  For the last several years, I have been trying to live this way, as much as possible; almost as if my highest purpose is to not interfere with that which is larger than myself.

But what if that perspective is not exactly accurate?  What if our "highest and best use", the reason we were created in the first place, was to fully be our own unique embodiment of Creator's spark? When I am in that place of connected embodiment, embracing my whole self, I feel the delight of the Source in my incarnation.  I am uniquely me, yet totally connected.

I believe I needed to go through the period of "getting out of the way" in order to learn to set aside my egoic small self.  Having done so, I can embody my larger self with appropriate humility and without losing connection to its source.

As this moon wanes, and I ponder what "Honor Truth" means in my life, I am coming to fuller understanding that I must honor the truth of my own incarnation.  I must embrace my gifts and talents and all the experiences of my past that have shaped me.  When I do this in awareness and in connection, I am a living, unique, expression of Creator's Love.  I am the purpose of creation.

Self Reflection:  Am I able to feel the delight of Creative Source in my incarnation? If not, I start by embracing my gifts and my talents.
